Why Prenatal Massage?

As an expectant mother your body undergoes many systemic changes which may cause stresses and minor aches. Prenatal massage is designed to support your pregnancy by safely relieving these common discomforts. Prenatal massage reduces the strain on your lower back, shoulders and abdomen, which is caused by postural changes.
Prenatal massage
Does Massage affect the Baby?
Your baby feels what you feel and shares your experience of pregnancy. When you are stressed your baby is affected by it and may become hyperactive and agitated.
When you receive a massage and relax, it has a soothing effect on the baby.
Studies have shown that babies born to women who receive regular weekly or semi-monthly massages have calmer dispositions, gain weight faster, have less colic, and sleep better!
Labor Support Massage Class
Your partner may want to participate actively in your labor. During your third trimester, I offer a private training to teach specific massage techniques to your partner to support you during your labor and your baby’s birth.
Postpartum Massage
Receiving massage treatment after your baby is born supports your recovery period. Postpartum massage restores strength to your abdominal and pelvic muscles, reduces muscular aches and tightness from labor; supports postural realignment and addresses nursing related discomforts.
Prenatal massage
- increases muscle tone and dissolves knots and muscle spasms.
- greatly reduces edema or swelling of arms and legs as well as leg and foot achiness.
- produces needed rest and relaxation by naturally sedating your nervous system.
- reduces the severity of morning sickness by stabilizing the hormone levels.
- prepares you for labor by increasing the flexibility of your ligaments, tendons, and joints and supporting your kinesthetic awareness.
